BlueJacket Crossing Vineyard & Winery

A relatively new spot, the first crops were planted back in 2002. In the years following, BlueJacket has grown to span 8 acres, cultivating a half dozen different varieties of grapes. The tasting room, which opened in 2008, is where to go to sample one (or more) of nearly two dozen types of wine (depending on the season), ranging from dry white to summery rosé to syrupy sweet dessert wines that pair exquisitely with decadent, chocolatey confections. Take your wine-tasting to the next level by pairing it with a yoga session (the tasting comes afterward) or a paint and sip workshop.

Davenport Orchards & Winery

What began as a hobby and nod to the Davenport’s German and Polish heritages blossomed into a full-fledged business in the late 90s. Each wine is labeled based on sweetness so you always know what to expect, and vintages are produced using not just locally grown grapes, but also apples, blackberries, peaches, pears, and rhubarb, among other fruits. If you’re interested in the journey from fruit to beverage, there’s even a chance to join as a volunteer and be a part of the whole process.

White Tail Run Winery & Vineyard

Opening up in 2003, this family-run winery began as a way for owner Dan Fuller to keep busy during his retirement. He began by growing grapes, which evolved into taking a crack at winemaking. Today, there’s a 5-acre vineyard that grows four different types of grapes that are transformed into more than a dozen varieties of wines. At the tasting room, you can try a flight of different flavors (before settling on one or two bottles to take home), or be on the lookout for pairing events, at which you can sample wines alongside tasty bites.

Holy-Field Vineyard & Winery

Come here for the award-winning wines, stay for the eclectic entertainment options you aren’t likely to find at other wineries. The property grows 10 varieties of grapes and produces some 7,000 gallons of wine annually, with nine types of red and white each, as well as a blush option. Keep an eye on their calendar of events for everything from mystery theater to music festivals to annual holiday celebrations.
